Welcome!

Folks- the time has come.

"To talk of many things:
Of shoes-and ships-and sealing-wax-
Of cabbages-and kings-
And why the sea is boiling hot-
And whether pigs have wings."

As the Walrus famously says in his invitation to the Oysters, the time has come! Time for what, you may ask? And who is that Walrus, anyway? And what became of those Oysters? And who thinks of these things- anthropomorphizing walruses and oysters ?

Well, I cannot claim the genius of Carroll, but I hope to inspire you to discover your inner genius.
This blogspot is a space for you to contemplate and ruminate upon all that you read, both in and outside of class. Over the course of this first semester, we will read articles, short stories, poems and novels. Your creative responses are welcome here, any time-day or night- java not required.

Please respond to the title of the blog and the poem referenced above by September 1, 2009 for a chance to win fantastic blog-prizes!

I look forward to the jabber....

Mrs. Tsuna

  2. I remember the walrus story from 8th grade.

  3. The Walrus wished to discuss economics and politics; two subjects of endless debate. Perhaps, your intention is to begin our discussions looking at the world through a looking glass while to be careful not steam the mirror with our coffee.

  4. also the song I am the Walrus was inspired by this poem

  5. YDR, are you implying that you, too, would wish to debate economics and politics? A worthwhile pursuit, but perhaps not the topic of the conversation between the Walrus and the Carpenter. Find out what they were discussing...

As for the looking glass, it is just one medium used for viewing life (the other being rosy-colored glasses). Perhaps Carroll prefers the looking glass to the glasses?

Find the words to the Beatles song; we can sing along in class if we know the words.

    Prizes await you!

  7. ok this works hahs! But anyways in response to YDR's comment about the walrus, in all respect how does the poem talk about "economics and politics; two subjects of endless debate"?

  9. How do you know the Walrus did not wish to discuss politics? Why does he start a conversation with the Oysters, if not to discuss something of life and death importance? Comment appropriately- or no credit! This means you cp3no and your buddy, surfrboy!

  10. its interesting that you call your blog Jabberwocky. This is because the definition of Jabberwocky is writing or speech that contains a bunch of meaningless words. I would have thought that this blog wouuld be anything other then a bunch of meaningless words.

  11. Well David, at first I thought that it was from the dancing group called the Jabbawockeez. But then I thought to myself: Wait why would Mrs. Tsuna put up a blog about them? Then I figured out that it was not the reason why. But thank you David for clearing up to me and others what the actual term means.

  13. HAHAHA Chaim I also thought that was what she meant! But Mrs. Tsuna and Jabbawockeez?! That does not mix in well together. I love this virtual world we all are getting accustomed to Mrs. Tsuna!

  14. Can one of you boys post a link to the dancing group or is it inappropriate for this space? I will investigate. Your comments are improving. Back to the jabberwocky in the title, why would I want the blog to be filled with "jabberwocky" (see David's definition)? Surfrboy, we are just getting this blog started; I am pleased you are getting accustomed so quickly.

  15. Mabey the reason you want jabberwocky because you might want to see how we react and comment about it.
